Ocean Safari is a family-owned and operated Great Barrier Reef tour based in Cape Tribulation, where the world's oldest rainforest meets the world's largest coral reef.
For almost 20 years, we've been helping guests experience one of Australia's most remarkable natural environments through small-group snorkelling adventures that are fun, personal and unforgettable.
Our half-day tours take a maximum of just 25 guests to two spectacular reef locations at Mackay Reef and the Mackay Coral Cay. Just 25 minutes from Myall Beach, guests can snorkel vibrant coral gardens, swim alongside sea turtles, tropical fish, giant clams and, if they're lucky, spot eagle rays, reef sharks and countless other marine species. It's a genuine outer reef experience without the long boat ride, leaving plenty of time to explore everything else the Daintree has to offer.
Being a small operator is what makes Ocean Safari special. Our crew have the time to get to know every guest, build confidence in the water, answer questions and share their passion for the Great Barrier Reef. Whether it's a family's first time snorkelling or a seasoned traveller ticking off a bucket-list experience, we want every guest to step off the boat feeling like they've experienced something truly special.
Our philosophy has always been simple: if people fall in love with the reef, they'll want to protect it. That's why education, conservation and adventure go hand in hand on every tour. Our passionate Eco Hosts and Master Reef Guides bring the reef to life through storytelling, interpretation and first-hand knowledge, helping guests understand not only what they're seeing, but why it matters.
Ocean Safari is proud to be recognised as one of Australia's leading ecotourism operators, holding Advanced Ecotourism Certification, and membership of the Ecotourism Hall of Fame. We actively contribute to reef conservation through programs including Eye on the Reef and work alongside industry and research partners to help monitor and protect the Great Barrier Reef for future generations.
Nearly three decades on, we're still driven by the same passion we started with: sharing the incredible place we call home. Every day, we have the privilege of introducing visitors from around the world to the magic of Cape Tribulation, where the reef meets the rainforest, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
